Mark Castellanos

Mark was our class president. Mark died in an automobile accident. I think it was our senior year. - Becky Polick Thomas

Mark and I worked at Sears together in the hardware department. I think he passed away our freshman year at the UofA, so that would have been December 1979? What a tragic loss for so many. He was a wonderful guy!

Mark and I had know each other since the first grade. We even went to the same church (St.Joseph's) every sunday and saw each other. It was so sad when I heard about his car wreck so close to the high school he just graduated from. He had so much life in front him. He would have been that person who would have achieved ALOT!

I remember being shocked when I heard that Mark died in a head on collision at Swan and 5th (sadly right in front of Rincon). The driver of the other car, Bob Hoskins (Rincon Class of '78) also died in the collision. How heartbreaking to lose two Rincon alumni in the same accident.

Mark was one of my best friends in school. He introduced me to all my other high school friends who have stayed with me ever since. He always had a smile on his face and loved life more than any of us. I remember his mother, father, and sisters. Before going out, his father would always ask us if we needed any "loot." God speed Mark. Wait up for me. tim

Mark was an amazing person. I saw him a couple days before the accident and went to the hospital were he was. There is no one from 79 Rincon that dosn't have a fond memory of Mark. We love you man.....

I may have this all wrong, but I think Mark got into some kind of trouble and was not allowed to walk during graduation. A couple of us had gone down to the office to plead his case that being the president he should be allowed. Don't think he was allowed to because I seem to remember thinking how bad the pricipal must have felt when he died which, again, I think was shortly after graduation. I do remember that Bob Hoskins was the other casualty. A group of us had been hanging out with Bob earlier that evening. It was a terrible loss of two friends. Hope this is somewhat acurate. Thirty years can cloud the memories.
