Survived By: I know his sister Desma Turpen is currently the only one both parents have died also since Duane died.
I was friends with Duane since I was 12 years old we met racing bicycle motocross, I became very close to him and his family. After I got married in 1981 I didn't see him or family much, but I know he battled Diabetes very bad from an early age. I was contacted when he past away by his family, and I went to the funeral. Duane and his family were very nice people and would always be there to help me and gave me a place to live for a year and a half when I first moved out at 16 years old. They helped me and I went to Rincon at the time, so Duane was a close friend and his family was very kind to me and help me when I needed the help at a young age moving out on my own.-Steve Sleight

I remember Duane from high school and then after. We'd run into each other at the country bars in our early 20's. After that I moved away. I remember him as a really sweet guy. I did not realize that he had a diabetis problem for so long. This is sad that this disease took his life.
